A good flashlight is not hard to find, what with the many different kinds of flashlights in the market today. We're not talking about your standard flashlights you find in your neighbourhood store, we're talking about industrial strength, extremely powerful and durable flashlights. This site gives you all the information you need about flashlights - especially led flashlights!

Mountie gets his man

I was involved in the tail end of a high-speed pursuit. Although the driver was apprehended, our K-9 search for the passenger was unsuccessful. As an experienced field support officer, I decided to find the suspect, even though the canine was unable to do so. As you know, Canadian winters are very cold, and with the wind chill this was a -35 degree Celsius night. Needless to say, it sucked the battery life out of my rechargeable Maglite® (yeah, I know it's a competitor's product). The area was a large wooded piece of private property about six acres in size. My backup light was my trusty SureFire Z2 CombatLight. That night I used it after my larger light died. I systematically searched the area and the Z2 performed flawlessly. Needless to say, I caught the suspect (in black clothing) hiding in a brush pile. My co-workers were amazed that I found him when the canine couldn't. I attribute this to common sense and a reliable, high-intensity SureFire flashlight.

Took more than marshmallows on camping trip

I was about to go on my first camping trip when my father gave me his SureFire 9P Original to use "in case something should happen." On our second night, we heard someone outside in the dark. I grabbed my 9P and my friend took a baton. We stepped out and were immediately confronted by a guy with a knife! Within a second I had the flashlight on his face, blinding him, while my friend forced him to drop the knife by striking his arm with the baton. We managed to subdue him and everything turned out O.K.

My friends and I are usually prepared for danger with an expanding baton and pepper spray, but nothing can really prepare you for some events.

Thanks, SureFire, you saved my life and the life of my friend! The Maglite® flashlight I have just doesn't compare to a SureFire! Keep bringing on the products!

Criminal under pressure to come clean

My SureFire Z2 CombatLight stopped a mugging. I work for my father's street sweeping company. Along with sweeping we also do power washing. While at work I have my Z2 with me day and night (you never know when you'll need it). While power washing at night, I always tape my Z2 to the spray wand so I can flick it on really quickly if needed in a low-light area.

One night at work I was approached from behind, knocked to the ground and ordered to give up my wallet at gun point. Not able to reach for my carry weapon, I flicked on my Z2, which was on the wand, blinded him, and rinsed him down with some super-hot, high-pressure water. I was then able to grab my firearm and subdue him until the police arrived. Our employees always talk about how much they like my flashlight and I tell them it's not a flashlight, it's a SureFire. I now supply all of our night shift employees with a Z2. I couldn't boast about SureFire flashlights enough.

Small but potent

Two months ago I purchased a SureFire 6P Original for fun, but I never thought that I would have to use it for my own personal safety, let alone my family's safety.

My neighborhood is quiet and usually peaceful, but that changed when a man attempted to break into my home. I was awakened by a loud bang on the patio door of my father's room. I thought it was nothing, until I heard my dad scream. I grabbed my SureFire flashlight and ran to find out what was going on. Depressing the tailcap-mounted switch, I flooded the second floor deck of my house with brilliant white light, illuminating an intruder as he attempted to break in.

I was terrified, not only because my parents are quite old and relatively defenseless, but also because I knew—at 5'5" and weighing 130lbs.—that I was the strongest one in the family, and that the job of protecting my parents and younger siblings would be mine. The robber was well over 6 feet tall, and who knows if he had a weapon. But luckily I had my super-bright SureFire light, which I used to momentarily blind and disorient him.

He tried to run when the cops came, but he did not get 15 feet away before they apprehended him. I had the light on him the whole time, and he was unable to see or hide. Thank you SureFire for making such great products that can save lives. I now am looking to buy another light to help my parents when I am away.

38 good reasons to carry a SureFire flashlight

I am a police officer in Memphis, Tennessee. My partner and I were routinely checking an area nightspot known for drugs. We had only been inside the club for about three minutes when a female came running through the door screaming, "They've got a gun! They've got a gun and they tried to carjack us!" My partner and I ran outside and approached the car. Using my SureFire 9Z CombatLight (since replaced in SureFire's lineup by the C3 Centurion), I fully illuminated the inside of the carjacked vehicle. Because of the bright white light, I was able to plainly see the driver as he handed the passenger a loaded .38 revolver. We could see that the passenger sat on the gun and put his hands up. We were able to take both suspects into custody without injury to anyone. A larger flashlight would have been much more cumbersome and the situation might not have turned out so favorably. Both suspects were arrested and charged with armed robbery, carjacking and kidnapping.

Red-dotted perp agrees: Strike bezel works

I am a frequent purchaser of SureFire products, and am extremely impressed. I recently purchased a SureFire E2D Defender and regularly carry it with me. One day I was at a bar until about 11:00 pm. On the way out a rather short man stopped me and said, "Give me your money or I'll cut you!" I noticed an old fishing knife in his hand.

I reached for my wallet but instead whipped out my SureFire E2D light. I rapidly shined it in his eyes. When he closed his eyes, I struck him in the forehead with the built-in strike bezel. He screamed in pain and dropped the knife (which was smaller than it appeared). Once he dropped the knife I tackled the assailant. I restrained him and called for my bar buddies. They appeared and one went to retrieve some rope. Once he was tied up I told them what had happened.

They were amazed when I showed them my SureFire flashlight. While waiting for the police I told my friends where they could purchase one. When the police finally did show up and arrested the mugger, I saw a big red-dotted circle on the man's forehead from where I hit him. Thanks, SureFire, for making fantastic products.

Defender lives up to its name

My wife was recently pursued by a stalker. We noticed him slowly at first but when I awoke at about 2:30 a.m. and found him looking through a window at us sleeping we knew it was serious. I did not have my pistol handy, but I did have my SureFire E2D Executive Defender. I fired it into his face from about 10 feet away as I was struggling out of bed. He jumped like I had hit him with a bat. I will never forget the look of pain and surprise on his face. He ran so fast that by the time I made it to the door he was out of our yard and gone.

The next time we saw him he had followed us 20 miles from our house to downtown Indianapolis. After we parked and were walking to dinner I saw him trying to follow us in his car. Luckily he got stuck in the downtown traffic. I ran into the street as I pulled the E2D from its Velcro pouch and put the beam on his face. Same look! He about jumped through the roof. As I kept it on him and he tried to shield his eyes I wrote his plate number on my hand. After I was done I used my SureFire to light my hand so he could see what I had done. At that point he blasted out of the turn lane he was in, almost hitting me, and sideswiping another car.

I gave his plate number to a friend who is a prosecutor but before they found him he was picked up for stalking another woman. In his trunk was a "Rape/Murder kit" of duct tape, a shovel, and other items the police said were for his women.

I am an engineer and use my SureFire everyday, but on those occasions it really saved the day and my wife. It is impossible for some one who has not actually seen or used a SureFire flashlight to believe what they can do!

Thorn-in-side removed from City of Roses

I am a bouncer/doorman at a very popular nightclub in Pasadena, California. My colleagues and I were using an inferior brand of "torch" (what we like to call them) to help us do our job safely and efficiently. Recently I decided to purchase your awesome SureFire G2 Nitrolon with the P61 Optional Lamp Assembly.

Well, one night on the job was all it took to convince my boss to get rid of "the torches" and invest in what we now call "the SureFires." We found that by using SureFire's directed beam we could literally blind irate guests momentarily in order to take control of a situation. On the first night I carried the G2 a guest somehow got into the club carrying a knife. When an argument broke out between patrons, I looked over to see one guy pull a knife from his pocket. I immediately jumped in and flashed him right in the eyes. He began waving his arms, crying and yelling that he was blind. I was able to tackle him to the floor and got the knife away from him. But that's not where the story ends.

Soon thereafter the police arrived and asked me to complete an incident report. They were amazed that my little SureFire light possibly saved a person's life. The officers kept asking me where they could buy a SureFire, and one even offered $100 for mine. I almost said yes, but we plan to mount this G2 in the club as a memento of this crazy occasion.

I just wanted to alert you that stores in the Pasadena area which carry your lights will soon be out of stock because the entire Pasadena police force will want to buy one! Thanks, you make products that win you customers for LIFE!!! Thanks from me, my club and the patron whose life your "SureFires" saved!

Crooks can't duct and run from X200

Houston Police Homicide Detectives requested members of my S.W.A.T. unit serve murder warrants to local gang members. Once the officers arrived at the residence listed in the warrant, they heard movement inside. They made a hard entry and observed individuals going up into the air-conditioning ducts. The officers also observed holes in the ceiling and open vents. The officers designated to run the warrant felt they were out-manned and requested additional officers to the scene.

When the additional S.W.A.T. officers and I arrived, we set up a perimeter and began a methodical search of the entire apartment building. I entered an apartment, located the air-conditioning filter vent and began to breach the vent with lethal force covering my actions. I shined my Glock 22c equipped with a SureFire X200 WeaponLight into the duct and observed a crook standing against the wall. As I covered him, another S.W.A.T. officer placed the suspect in custody.

I notified my team I was going into the duct to clear it. This is a dangerous occupation but someone has to do it. While shining my X200 into the duct I saw a pair of jeans. With my Glock pointed in the direction of what I believed to be a suspect, I engaged the light again and observed a suspect looking down at me. The light temporarily blinded the suspect and we were able to get him into custody without incident.

My team then moved to another apartment, where we hooked up with the group which originally executed the warrant. One of the officers unscrewed the air conditioning vent located above the dining room table and placed a pole cam into the duct. The officer was having trouble seeing so he used his Insight M3 light, mounted on his Five Seven pistol, but still could not see clearly. So I shined my X200 light into the duct and we could see extremely well.

At the end of the Call-Up, my fellow officers began inquiring about the X200. They were amazed at how well it worked, how small it is, and its ruggedness. I want to say thank you for developing such an awesome tactical tool. It came in handy and will continue to be in operation with this S.W.A.T. officer.

Gun stays in pocket while G2 gets the job done

I'm a typical IT guy who normally works late at night in the office. One night, while I was talking to my pregnant wife on the phone, a car drove by and parked at the back of our house, continuously blowing its horn. Then, suddenly, my wife heard a loud banging at the rear gate and a man shouted, "open the gate!" My wife and my 5 year old son got frightened and panicked. I could hear the loud noise and the shouting in the background so I immediately drove home.

I took my SureFire G2 Nitrolon from my glove compartment and told my wife to pass me my S&W Snubby through the house window because someone might follow me through the door. I hid at one dark corner across the street to assess the situation. I saw a heavily tinted pick-up truck parked outside the house with its engine running. I couldn't see the man who was shaking the rear gate because it was too dark. I was afraid that he might break in so I made a decision–I will not let this man step into my house.

Multiple dark targets, one source of light. My plan was to clear the truck first before the man at the gate noticed me, then check the surrounding dark areas. So I positioned myself about 10 meters from the truck facing the gate and the other dark areas.

I just can't believe how well my G2 illuminated the inside of the heavily tinted truck – luckily, no one was there. Then I pointed my SureFire at the man at the gate. The brightness of the light also illuminated the other dark areas so I just moved my eyes to those areas without moving the light. Really amazing! The man was stunned for a while and covered his face with his hands. Every time he moved toward his truck, I moved my G2 back onto his face and he just stopped moving – without a word. After about 10 minutes, local police arrived and soon found out that there was a Daewoo 9mm waiting inside the truck.

And one thing more, my Snubby never left my rear pocket during that ordeal.

Punks get punked

While driving home one night with my wife and kids, we were harassed by some punks in an import hot rod. We were driving on a local canyon road with almost no other traffic. The other car was weaving behind us, riding on our bumper, and repeatedly pulling along side without passing. My wife screamed, "They have a gun!" The first thing I thought of was using my SureFire 6P Original flashlight to incapacitate and scare them. I handed the light to my wife who shined the light on the other car.

I had forgotten how bright that light really is. There was no way they could continue. They faded back and turned around. We called the sheriff when we reached home. They notified us that our description of the culprits matched those of a group that had vandalized numerous cars in our neighborhood as well as harassing some of the residents. The 6P was an excellent addition to our safe traveling gear!

Luckily for criminal, light hits before bullets

I am a Police Officer in a town of about 50,000 people. While working the graveyard shift several years ago I had an incredible experience with one of your products. Early in the shift we had a drive-by shooting. While on scene, we received a description of the vehicle and driver. Later in the shift, I heard a report on the radio that an officer had stopped a vehicle matching the description of the drive-by suspect. I arrived on the scene several seconds later. I approached the passenger side of the vehicle, and the other officer approached the driver's side. I watched my partner take the driver's license and begin to back away. As he did so, I saw the suspect reach into his pocket and begin to draw a small .25 caliber handgun. I immediately drew my service weapon, but I already had my SureFire 8NX Commander in my left hand. I shined it at the suspect as I pointed my weapon at him. The suspect turned his head toward me and looked directly into the light. I could clearly see him close his eyes and recoil at the intensity of the light. He dropped the gun and threw his hands into the air. Your light prevented the use of deadly force. I purchased several other SureFire lights after this incident. I currently serve on a narcotics team and use one of your Millennium lights on my Colt M4 during every search warrant entry. Thanks for making such a great product.

SureFire part of special honeymoon memories

This incident is always etched in the back of our minds and creeps up on us whenever we're out and about at night. My wife and I were on our honeymoon on the island of Antigua in the Caribbean. Late one night, as we returned to our hotel from a local club, two mean-looking thugs jumped out of the bushes in front of us. One of them held a knife and demanded my wallet and my wife's purse. We were in shock and pleaded with them not to hurt us.

I pulled my wife off to the side as I gave them her purse. The guy holding the knife demanded that I empty my pockets and give him my wallet. Well, I didn't have a wallet because I just carry cash whenever I'm out. But I always carry my SureFire 6P Original and my Swiss Army Knife when we vacation. I agreed to his demands and began to empty my pockets as he moved closer to me with his knife. I was scared that he was going to stab us at this close range. So I threw my cash to the ground, jumped back and pulled out my 6P, then flashed the knife wielder in the face as I screamed for my wife to run. He was stunned and immediately covered his eyes and turned his head the other way. I did the same to the other guy and they both started to move back as they appeared to be painfully blinded.

I yelled for help and made a big scene as I moved away from the bad guys, while continuing to shine the 6P in their faces. I saw them take off with my wife's purse, but they didn't pick up the cash I had thrown to the ground. We felt fortunate not to have been hurt.

From then on, I never leave home without my SureFire flashlight. It is a good habit, just like taking vitamins and brushing your teeth! Thank you, SureFire, for making the world's brightest flashlights—my family will always depend on them!
