A good flashlight is not hard to find, what with the many different kinds of flashlights in the market today. We're not talking about your standard flashlights you find in your neighbourhood store, we're talking about industrial strength, extremely powerful and durable flashlights. This site gives you all the information you need about flashlights - especially led flashlights!

Think the roads in your neighborhood are bad?

Just a thank you from a very satisfied customer. I am on a PSD (Personal Security Detail) Team in Iraq. Recently I was commanding the backup vehicle (gun-ship) in a three vehicle convoy traveling from Baghdad to Tikrit. We were late and it was getting dark—not a good time to be on the roads out here—when the lights on our vehicle failed. With no road lights it was totally black, and we still had a good 20 miles to go. Without thinking I removed my SureFire G2Z CombatLight from my rifle and leaned out the side window to illuminate the way for my driver. Without that torch we would have had to slow down—which would have been suicide—or had a potentially fatal accident.

Useful, without weighing a ton

I just want to tell you that the SureFire G2 Nitrolon flashlight has been one of the best investments I have made. I am a U.S. soldier deployed in Bosnia. The G2 is the perfect light for me: the price was within my budget, and it is sturdy enough for field conditions.

I purchased my SureFire at the PX before this deployment, and I don't go anywhere without it. It is much brighter and easier to carry than the old issue plastic flashlight, and has been most useful on "active harvest" missions, when we search buildings for weapons and explosives (it's nice to really see what's in a dark attic or barn before you go in). Using my SureFire, I have found many explosives and weapons here in Bosnia, and my SureFire is always on my LBV (Load Bearing Vest).

With all the other equipment we have to carry, it's nice to have something useful that doesn't weigh a ton. I hope one day the Army makes the G2 an issue item. When I get home I plan on purchasing two more SureFire lights for my house and car. I'm sure they will be as handy at home as they are in Bosnia.

When their lights go out, ours go on

Currently our unit is on patrol in the city of Gnjilane, Kosovo. We are responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for all of its residents (about 85,000). The power goes out daily, usually at night, and the Maglites most people carry just don't cut it. Leaders have been buying the SureFire G2Z CombatLight and the SureFire C2 Centurion. These lights provide an outstanding beam that not only lights up an alley but the whole street. Since they run on lithium batteries they are always ready even in the extreme winter conditions in which we patrol. Thanks for making such a fantastic light. It should be standard issue.

One hell of an advantage

I am a gunnery sergeant in the Marines and the reason for this letter is to thank you for such a great product. I was a member of 2d Force Reconnaissance Company from 1995 until July 2000 and was deployed with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit to Kosovo last year.

While undergoing our CQB (close quarter battle) training I had the pleasure of using a SureFire and immediately fell in love with it. Throughout all of our training in nighttime, low-light situations, and a myriad of other uses, the SureFire never once failed me. While deployed in Kosovo, my SureFire once again kept going strong and gave me one hell of an advantage. Attached to my MP-5, the SureFire afforded me light in dark houses, alleys and every other urban environment situation I encountered and, to tell you the truth, it amazed me how something so small could put out so much light.

My hand-held SureFire met the challenge as well and was by my side at all times. I have since left ForceRecon, but I am thankful to have worked with such a great product and want to congratulate and thank you for a job well done.

SureFire people as good as their lights

I am writing from Tallil Air Base in Southern Iraq to thank you for the outstanding products your company produces and the superior customer service you provide. I'm currently deployed as part of the U.S. Air Force contingent supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and I couldn't have made it through this deployment without my SureFires.

My first SureFire was a M3 Millennium CombatLight and it has been a lifesaver in numerous situations ranging from hurricanes to aircraft crashes to law enforcement responses. The rugged housing and superior light output has made it a force enhancer and enabled me to diffuse several situations just by using your light.

I also purchased a Z2 CombatLight and have been equally pleased with its performance. When responding to an aircraft crash, my SureFire Z2 was the only light able to penetrate deep enough into a wooded area so we could locate the wreckage. Then I was able to vector in responding forces using the momentary on switch that makes SureFires invaluable in tight situations.

When I got word I would be deployed to Iraq, I stocked up on batteries and spares carriers. I was short on time and your staff made it possible for my spare lamps, batteries and carriers to arrive in time for me to deploy with them.

Once here, my SureFires have proved invaluable. After a nighttime rocket attack in an area without lights, my M3 provided illumination sufficient for us to do a sweep, locate injured personnel, and coordinate defense force responses and emergency medical personnel to the area.

Throughout my deployment, my beamfitters, holsters and spares carriers have been used over and over to provide just the right light at just the right time. And each piece of equipment, from the lights to the lamps to the lanyards has performed beyond expectations. My red and blue beamfilters enabled me to communicate when our radios malfunctioned or radio transmission may have compromised our location. In addition, SureFires often could be seen further than some of our radios can transmit, providing us with the ability to communicate, no matter what.

I couldn't imagine trying to perform in this environment without my SureFire products. Thank you for making quality products that are true lifesavers. I recommend your products to all my troops, and I've even given them as gifts to fellow officers. Thanks for all your help, and keep up the good work.

Not just luck on Route Irish

When I was in Iraq we were ill equipped. I purchased my own 9V M971UM Millennium WeaponLight. My main job was the lead gunner on our team. I first discovered with an old SureFire 6P Original that my light would get the attention of the Iraqis and they would stay clear. It also got the attention of Iraqi drivers who were not paying attention, thus avoiding any incidents. I realized with the Millennium WeaponLight that the Iraqis were learning fast to stay away. It also let them know I was up on them. It was because of this that my team and I made it a year without any serious incidents on the worst stretch of road in Baghdad, and probably all of Iraq. Good old route Irish, we never were hit there, many others were, and I have my SureFire to thank for that. Who knows how many suicide bombers it might have staved off. I surely never will, and I wouldn't want to find out.

Lighting the path to democracy

I am a Platoon Sergeant currently serving in Baghdad, Iraq. I was on duty the night of 30 January 2005 (election night) and was alerted of possible forces with RPGs in the area of the Crossed Sabres and Tomb of the Unknown. I was one of three vehicles searching the area and I was using a flood light. While searching the Tomb area, the flood light lost its charge and left me in the dark. I immediately grabbed my SureFire A2 Aviator and continued to search the area. The Aviator was strong enough and bright enough for me to search the entire area for over thirty minutes. As a result of SureFire's powerful light, I was able to safely clear the area and ensure there were no enemy forces in the area. I consider my SureFire a lifesaver. My civilian job as a police officer taught me to always carry a back-up light and SureFire is my only choice. Thank you for your commitment to excellence and for doing your part in accomplishing a valuable mission!

Sending a message without pulling the trigger

I am a combat convoy mechanic at LSA Anaconda in Balad, Iraq. I was happy to have my SureFire G2 Nitrolon flashlight with me on a recent convoy outside of BIAP (Baghdad International Airport). We stopped to recover a broken down vehicle. I was the gunner in the rear gun truck. My job was to discourage anyone from approaching our convoy from the rear. I had in my turret a Brinkman 2,000,000 candle power spotlight that decided to quit on me as a vehicle was approaching. It was dark and cloudy with no moonlight, and we were running blacked out. The only thing I could think was, "Where is my Surefire?" I pulled it off my LBV and quickly pointed it to the rear and pushed the button. At 100 meters or so the driver saw my light and stopped dead in his tracks, turned around and left. Thank goodness I had that G2 or I don't know how I would have signaled him without shooting at him. Thank you for an awesome and reliable product.

Gadget connoisseur avoids burn-out

I am currently stationed in Afghanistan as part of the combined joint task force. When we deployed here a few months ago I brought several flashlights with me, because the nights here are black as pitch. After a month, five different lights died; my Mini Maglite®, three-cell Maglite®, even my medical penlight. Either the bulbs burned out or broke, or they just stopped working, probably because of the extreme dust that gets into everything. I relayed this to a friend of mine who asked me why, since I claimed to be a connoisseur of good military gadgets, I didn't have a SureFire. He challenged me to give up on the cheap, unreliable lights I had been using and try a SureFire. After brief deliberation, I decided to try a less expensive SureFire model. I chose the SureFire G2 Nitrolon. I ordered online and had it delivered faster than most letters. Once I tore open the package I quickly learned what I had been missing. This compact, durable, and powerful tool is a true blessing. It is so powerful, in fact, that I have to be careful when I walk past the airfield at two o'clock in the morning, I have had plenty of comments from the MPs (military police) about how bright it is. I am a firm believer in my SureFire, which I use every day. I am not only a life-long customer now, but also a "SureFire convert" who is spreading the word.

SureFire light packs a punch, takes one too

Our company was sent to Fallujah as part of Task Force Enforcer. Our main mission was to conduct raids, literally dozens and dozens of them. As a veteran of several SWAT schools and a tactical pistol instructor, I can tell you that this was often a CQB (close quarters battle) nightmare. However, the best weapons I had were my SureFire Millennium Universal M962 WeaponLight and Z2 CombatLight.

I can't tell you how many times our blinding white lights prevented an exchange of gunfire and probably the loss of innocent lives. When you are clearing city blocks that don't have electricity, the most valuable weapon in your arsenal is your light. I have purchased, trained with, and recommended your product for several years now, and will continue to do so proudly.

On September 1, 2003, I was riding in the passenger seat of a Humvee when a roadside bomb (later determined to be a 155mm shell) was detonated. Hot chunks of metal sprayed everywhere, rupturing our fuel tanks and injuring our gunner. My weapon was pointing out of the window. When the blast occurred my weapon and WeaponLight were struck with pieces of shrapnel that would otherwise have hit my head and face. Once again my weapon and my SureFire saved the day.

Our gunner has recovered, but my M962 will forever remain in Iraq. I will replace my M962; my life, I cannot.

Please keep up the good work.

Enemy stronger than expected; so is SureFire

My team was on rolling point just south of Fallujah when we detected an ambush. Underestimating the enemy force, we pushed through only to find ourselves outnumbered 3 to 1 and engaged by machine guns, mortar, and rocket propelled grenades.

Shortly after making contact we were hit by two rocket propelled grenades, one of which impacted a foot from my head, breaking my arm, blowing out both ear drums, and dislocating my elbow. My M4 carbine, with SureFire WeaponLight, was blown out of my hands. After another hour and a half of fighting my team and I were medevaced and within a week or so we were back in the States.

Later, when I got back my gear, I was amazed to find not only that my SureFire worked, but also that it was the only piece of my equipment that remained intact and functional—even my M4 had been destroyed.

I served in Afghanistan and for two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom. I've gone through a lot of gear during these tours and can testify the SureFire has passed my test.

Thanks for making one hell of a damn good product.

3000 rounds later, nothing had changed

I'm on a Special Forces team in Japan. A few months ago we received SureFire M900A WeaponLights for our M4s and have been using them off and on since. But it wasn't until a few days ago that we really had a chance to see how they would hold up to heavy shooting.

Here is where the lights really proved themselves. We had a flat range for two days and had approximately 2,800 rounds of 5.56 per man. We did a lot of team drills, ambushes and the like that involved very fast and full-auto shooting. Many times our guns heated up to the point that even the M900A's handles were very hot to the touch.

I thought for certain that two days of such shock, heavy firing and tremendous heat build-up would have some adverse effect on our lights. I am very happy to say that the lights worked great! They were not loose at all after almost 3000 rounds, much of it on full auto. The main and LED bulbs were stable and bright as ever. That light is built like a tank and nuke-proof for sure.

Thanks for building such a great light SureFire! In my line of work it really brings peace of mind knowing that, no matter what the conditions are, you can depend on your equipment.

Lost gear can't hide from a SureFire

I have used a SureFire 9P Original for years as an officer in the Marines. When I was a platoon commander it proved invaluable during the Corps' Urban Warrior experimentation. My 9P justly earned the nickname "the sun" from my troops who dreaded its focused beam during infiltration exercises.

More than one lost piece of gear has been found late at night thanks to the 9P's superior lighting. Normal lights would have had us come up empty-handed. On occasion my 9P has also provided the necessary light for my corpsmen to patch up one of my Marines. The only way I would go into the field without it would be if I retired it and upgraded to a newer SureFire.
