  1. Frankly, for something that costs more than 50 bucks, I didn’t expect this to be made in China. However, it appears to be solid light…fair throw, and a nice spill overall. I suppose we’ll see how long it lasts.

If your job depends on it, get a Surefire. If this is for leisurely activities (hiking, biking, etc.), you’re all set.

  2. All the flashlights Manufactored by FENIX are made in China and when anything is wrong a call to a repesentative goes like this; they start by: Who sold this unit to you? Oh! Not us? So sorry, you can send the item to GONGHHKIERGHZYXZOOO!! in China maybe they do something. How long will this take? Hummmm, 6-10wks. if not longer. Thank you so much, for giving support to your own products!!!!!! I’ll buy within “OUR SHORES” from now on. Amazon.com don’t “peddel” products that aren’t supported by the maker. They harm your bussines because they don’t support what you’re selling, they want the customer to deal directly with them and cut YOU OUT!!!

  3. It was kind of slow to arrive with Amazon’s bate and switch “free shipping” and when it finally showed up, 3 out of 6 modes vigorously flickered and out of the remaining 3 two were undistinguishable. Basically, if the modes were 1,2,3,4,5,6 then 2,4, and 6 did not work (flickered) and 3 and 5 looked exactly the same.

It looks like flickering is something that these flashlights are prone to because the included 1 page “manual” had a troubleshooting section that had a few things to try if the flashlight flickers: a) change batteries; and b) wipe contacts with alcohol. I tried two sets of brand new batteries as well as wiping the contacts which of course did not help. Flickering was the only problem that the troubleshooting section had mentioned.

Sent it back to Amazon the next day (they did provide free ground 3-5 days UPS label) for replacement. They got the item but I did not see anything about the replacement in 2 days so I called and was told that it might take awhile since they don’t sell it directly anymore but just “fulfill” etc. This sounded completely bogus because the website was still offering to deliver the item the next day if “…you order it within next 3 hours and …”. So I asked to just reimburse me and not to send the replacement which they did. I did not want to wait another week to get a flashlight and after a little research picked up $18.99 Task Force flashlight at my local Lowe’s. It is a simple, one mode device but it puts out 75 lumens and has a Cree LED. The flashlight uses 3 AAA batteries, has a nice long throw but the spot is a little small. I think that the Fenix on one of the settings that worked was filling a room with light better but I found the Task Force to be a decent quality unit very much adequate to what I will be using it for. And in support to another poster, unlike Fenix it comes with unconditional lifetime warranty: “if for any reason you don’t like our product at any time just returned to the store you purchased it from” (or something like that).

I know that the review is for Fenix and not for the other product but I personally like when reviewers who are not happy with the product share with the audience which product they settled on instead.

  5. Excellent little light, lightweight, very bright when it is turned to high. Although I am not sure it really is giving 180 lumens of power. At the time I purchased this light, it did not come with a pocket clip as the newer ones do now. The sheath however is inferior. Hence, I think the price was a bit high at $54 for a Chinese company.
