Product Description

The Fenix L1D LED flashlight is digitally regulated and digitally controlled. It has two output modes which produce a total of six levels of output. These modes not only allow the user to select the best compromise between brightness and runtime for any given task, but they also help to aid in an emergency. The L1D does all this and still retains a very compact size. If you're looking for solid reliability, digitally-regulated brightness, and compact size, this Fenix is for you.

One of the best EDC's...

Purchased L1D in 2008. First quality Cree light I purchased.
Always owned Maglite. Fenix, while still not a household name,
makes some of the best quality flashlights around. This has been
my EDC for two years. I've moved on to others just recently but
the L1D is a classic and the current Fenix line up is outstanding.
Nice job Fenix.
Switch broke after a month, and there is no warranty

Seems like it would have been a great flashlight. Feels great in hand. When the light worked, it was bright and clean and even. Very satisfying.

However it started acting flaky, only lighting sometimes, after the first month. I contacted Amazon and they suggested I contact the manufacturer as they only replace or refund within 30 day.

I contacted Fenix and got this reply:

"I think it's possible the problem with the switch, in this case, the dealer in your country will provide you the direct service, so could you please contact the dealer whom you bought the light from, he is near you and will carry out the warranty for us, he will send you a replacement switch directly to solve your problem, this way, you will be helped out soon as well as save the high international freight."

Obviously Amazon (my dealer) was not able to carry out the warranty for them and send me a replacement switch directly.

So I have this broken flashlight that I am having a hard time throwing in the garbage because it cost $55. And I still need a flashlight. Is there an equivalent flashlight that has a warranty that doesn't require international freight?

I would not recommend this product because of the lack of service available.

Ace Photo Digital - sending out LD10 - NOT- L1D

Ace Photo Digital - Is selling a Fenix L1D but shipping Fenix LD10 as the Replacement

I ask Ace photo to refund the difference
"Thank you for your email. Unfortunately we nor Amazon price match with other vendors. According to our listing on Amazon the price remains the same with us."

Thought I would get more, but not disappointed

Reviewer: Fidelity,
I bought this light to replace a Surefire G2 (with the upgraded lamp, totaled about $100). I bought this light to fulfill several roles: weapon mounting, backpacking, night-time self defense, and general purpose illumination. What turned me onto this product was Nutnfancy's youtube review - but looking over it, there was something not mentioned that I would like to cover here.

This light is not approaching anywhere near it's advertised "120 lumens". My surefire G2's upgraded lamp was much brighter (and also "120 lumens"). The L1D is very bright, but not something I would ever want to take into a tactical situation as a primary weapon light. I was comfortable with a G2 as a primary weapon light.

The L1D's LED is much "softer" than the G2's incandescent bulb: when pointed directly at you, the G2 could temporarily blind a person, the L1D is just annoying.

The effective range of the light is only about 30-50 feet, my surefire was about 100 feet.

None of the reviews really mention what the strobe is for: a strobe light allows you to watch a target, but the target loses depth perception and cannot tell if you're moving - it's a major tactical bonus, but the L1D would only have limited effectiveness in this role.

Also, if you intend to mount this to a weapon system, the diameter of the body is so small that it's hard to find a solid mount - you're likely going to improvise.

Overall, I would say that this light is not sufficient for any primarily "tactical" purpose, but is small enough that it could be a "back-up" light.

Those complaints aside, the L1D has several advantages over the G2:
-Much lighter
-Consumes less batteries
-Multiple output levels
-Gets warm on highest output (not HOT!)

I've had it about 2 weeks now and taken it into the field once for a wet-weather night-time hike - it worked perfectly. The overall design might be better improved if the device was not solid black and maybe hunter orange (I know this light will get lost). I am happy to have this light in my collection of gear, but it does not fill all the illumination needs I have.
Great EDC Light

This is a great EDC, Every Day Carry, light. The only negetive is the user instruction for the light are only clear if you already know how to use the light. There three normal brighness levels controled by the rear botton, while Turbo (Brightest) and Strobe require turning LED head (Benzle).

Put a AA lithium cell in your Fenix L1D and store with your first aid kit and know it would be there and do the job.
